Long Tuesday

Costco has a new rule that you need a wholesale membership to get into the warehouse at 9:00 a.m.  It started a couple weeks ago, so the place was mostly me and the employees as they finished stocking the shelves.  Today I was parked out front at 8:47, in the warehouse three minutes later, and getting back into my car by 9:30, having spent a couple hundred dollars.

I’m a fast shopper. I have my list and stick to it, for the most part. The floral bouquets have gone up a dollar, the eggs are $6.49 for two dozen, and there were only three cases left of Snapple. I grabbed one of them and put it on the top of my cart.

Last time the new assistant to the cashier moved the Snapple from the top of the cart to the bed of the cart.

“You need to put that back,” I said.

She gave me a funny look.

“I can’t get it in my car unless you put it back.”

The cashier gave her a look.

“I’m old,” I said.

Then it clicked in her head, and she moved the Snapple back to the top of the cart (where a little kid would sit).

Today I found some cute toddler shirts for my grandson, some inexpensive cupcakes in the bakery (chocolate, of course), bananas, turkey, paper towels and Impossible nuggets for my adult child roommate who doesn’t eat meat.

I got home with the three bouquets of flowers, all the goodies, the little shirts, and everything else. I forgot the bleach since I didn’t write it down.

After I walked the black dog and played ball with the white dog, I packed my lunch and took off for Senior Day at the thrift stores three towns up the road.  I bought dishes, dishes and more dishes. Then I stopped at my friend’s place in PH. She was getting packed for her trip to France. She gave me peaches and peach cobbler. I gave her some sleeveless tops and gave her adult child a cute dress from the Salvation Army.

I stopped at two more shops and then went home.  I still had to take off the price tags and wash the dirty dishes.

I bought a huge oil painting at the last shop, but I need a heavy-duty picture hanger before I can hang it because it’s big and heavy. And very cool, I might add.

The two bags of clothes I donated today were replaced by the big oil painting. The dishes will be gone by Christmas (some of the plates are red and gold).

My legs hurt tonight. I did a lot of running around on senior-discount Tuesday. Next time, I will skip the Costco run.
