I’ve lived almost seven decades in the U.S.A. Things were great until about ten years ago. What the eff is happening to our country? I just read that two shooters shot people at the Super Bowl rally in Kansas City. The Chiefs won fair and square, that being said by a non-football person, and I was rooting for the 49ers.
Why is everyone so angry all the time? Why can’t strangers be nice to each other the way they used to? Why has civility left out collective consciousness? Why is it okay to put down a person because of his/her/their politics, religion, gender identity, sexual preference, or clothing choices? Why can’t we respect one another and let each of us live our lives to suit our needs?
I’m telling you, I can hardly scroll through Facebook without seeing some post putting down someone who is different from the post-er. Sometimes it’s about women, or a celebrity, or a politician. It’s never about white men. It’s usually posted by white men. Men in their seventies that are used to their way all their lives. Things are changing. They don’t like it.
Why was the Homeland Security secretary impeached YESTERDAY BY THE NARROWEST House VOTE POSSIBLE, 214-213? Why is he being blamed for trying to enforce the border when there is no clear policy and no new immigration reform? That’s right. The Senate voted on a bipartisan bill, only to have it shot down by Candidate Trump, so they rejected their own bill. Trump doesn’t want Biden to have any wins in this election year.
Why does Joe Biden have such squinty eyes? He looks like he’s half asleep. He should get that eyelid surgery ASAP. He may be old, but he doesn’t need to look so old. Cosmetic surgery it’s the new Fountain of Youth tonic.
Why does Rebecca have so many age spots on the show This Is Us? Why is she so fresh and glowing when she’s thirty and so dull and dark when she’s seventy? Yes, the producers want to show contrast, but do I really look that old and tired? I identify with old Rebecca and her adult children. That’s where I’m at in life right now, although my three kids are not triplets, thank God.
Why is it not cool to thank God anymore? I was raised with a devout grandmother, who encouraged all of us kids to go to church. I was the only one who wanted to. Now I never go to church and my brother is the churchy one.
Why are church people sometimes the biggest hypocrites there are? Follow the teachings of Jesus Christ only if it suits your needs. Why do we let veterans live in tents alongside the freeway, where the constant drone of traffic is the only way they can sleep? Why do we ask them to do what they do in the military? Why are we in charge of policing the entire planet? What would happen if we didn’t?
Why was I born a white girl in the richest country on Earth? I could’ve been brown or black or African or Palestinian. How did I win the luck of the draw? Why am I questioning any of it?
Because two shooters opened fire at a Super Bowl rally today, a time meant for celebration.
